This little book is full of adorable ideas for decorating a nature table. We do not really have a nature table in our home, but we do enjoy decorating for the various seasons and holidays. I mainly purchased the book for inspiration, and because I do like sewing , and making things for my children that are not readily available to purchase. This book has so many cute ideas for sewing, knitting, paper crafting, and more. It is fully illustrated with both drawings and photos. I think the instructions are pretty good, but not every project has full step by step illustrations. For this reason some sewing/knitting experience is probably best. Although, there are certainly some projects suitable for a total novice. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to make dolls, and other toys, as well as anyone who wants to decorate their home or a nature table for the seasons.
I bought this for ideas for my nature table for my sons. This book is a treasure and a wealth of information. There are drawings of how to make/sew the dolls for the nature table and who they are for each specific season, and how to present them! I highly suggest buying this book! It's full of photos of the dolls for each season, and just really gets your creative ideas flowing. It is a must for any Waldorf/homeschooling/crafty/nature loving mama! It's one I will reference over and over again for ideas!! It's just adorable.
...and this book was extremely useful. Actually, I could have put away all other Waldorf books and kept only this one and would have fared just as well. Great ideas to build upon of adapt. I still use this book many years later. It is a 'must have' if you are learning to make things and/or keep a season table. The reverence for little things - which the season table offers - is unmatched by any other method for teaching children.
I love the examples and how tos. I will have this for my great grandchildren. Useful and perfect for home or preschool.

Tons of ideas for Nature tables in each season of the year, wonderful full-color pictures, and patterns and directions to make your own creations. The book covers basic techniques including how to make a Waldorf doll head, and is divided into 11 Nature table scenes for all times in the year. If you're a crafty person you'll find this book easier to use than a complete novice would. But the photography of the seasonal table alone is enough to justify buying this book! Although the Nature table is discussed in Earthways and All Year Round, this book goes much farther and I turn to it often. A necessary addition to your Waldorf library.
What a wonderful little book! It's packed with seasonal table ideas and instructions for making the dolls, animals and other craft suggestions. The color photographs are inspiring. After buying this book, I immediately set out to make Mother Earth and the Earth Babies. My daughter is now a preteen, but she still enjoys having these special touches in our home. She rarely adds to the scenes anymore, but having a bit of nature around the house is comforting. During this time of growth and change, she outwardly denies her interest in such "babyish" traditions, but if I try to alter our traditions, she voices her disappointment. I think long after she's moved on, I'll continue to set up a seasonal table -- just for me! For anyone interested in starting a Seasonal Table or if you want new ideas, consider adding this gem to your craft library.
